

They resumed stamping the date code on the barrel on 10/1/01. They continued to mark the date code on the end flap of the shipping box. The finish is consistent throughout and to my eye looks like the original dark Remington-Rand parkerizing. Remington's manufactured after 1921 have a code located on the left side of the barrel near the frame that identifies the year and month of manufacture. Remington Rand formed a new division to take charge of building the pistols. He never said what kind of finish it had, but since I have only seen parkerized guns in my short 1911 collector experience, I assumed it had the du-lite finish that was used prior to parkerizing. According to him (he is in his 70's, can't expect him to remember clearly) the slide came off out of a 1911A1 he bought from the CMP sometime in the 60's.
